7 Games and Applications to learn English (A1-A2 level)

Technology is the best ally in education and children love playing games and learning at the same time. Cambridge English has developed some games and applications, especially created for candidates preparing for YLE and KET exams and they are amazingly fun!! Give them a try and tell us which one is your favourite :).

1. SING AND LEARN

Sing and Learn was designed to help children learn, remember and use new language.

2. SHOP AND DROP

Shop and Drop is a new fun game for children. To keep customers happy and reach the next level, players need to make sure that the right orders are placed in the box. Each of the 15 levels offer more new words. With Shop and Drop children can build vocabulary and compete with other English language learners around the world. They will also be able to see their name on the national and international leaderboards.

Parents please note: before accessing level 3 you will need to offer a few contact details.

3. MONKEY PUZZLES WORLD TOUR

Monkey Puzzles World Tour is the follow up to the popular game for young learners, Monkey Puzzles. Join Monkey as he travels the world and discover 8 new English learning games with exciting new scenes and sound effects. Monkey Puzzles World Tour also includes 2 games to practise listening skills.

Like Monkey Puzzles, Monkey Puzzles World Tour uses words from the Cambridge English: Young Learners tests. The game provides excellent preparation for the tests and is a fun way to practise English at an early stage of learning.

Visit Monkey’s favourite places and play 8 mini games to test your English. Unlock new games as you progress – but watch out, the games get harder as you go along!

There has been released an iOS app version, free to download on the iOS App Store. Android users can continue to play Monkey Puzzles on their devices with an internet connection via our website.

5. FUNLAND

Visit Funland and play a range of classic fairground games to practise your English language. Control the ferris wheel, splash the clowns and collect prizes along the way. Available on the App Store and Google Play to download for free.

7. ACADEMY ISLAND

An unknown alien life form lands on earth and has to learn English to get by in a range of social situations. Players of Academy Island have to progress through different difficulty levels by helping the alien use English in a range of situations such as shopping in a bakery and visiting places such as an art gallery and library. The game is designed to help learners improve their English language ability, in a fun way.
